What Is MS Pipe?
MS stands for mild steel — steel with a lower carbon content, which keeps it strong without making it brittle or hard to cut. Unlike GI pipe, MS pipe isn’t zinc-coated, so it’s commonly called “black pipe” in the trade. It’s made by rolling steel strips into a tube shape and welding the seam using the ERW (Electric Resistance Welded) process, in round, square and rectangular sections.
